You can draw a variety of birds to your backyard with sliced apples. Chickadees, wrens, the titmouse, jays and bluebirds are all drawn to this fruit. They don't have to be perfect. Bruised or wormy apples are just fine too.
We sell hanging fruit spears that are perfect for holding apples for these birds to eat. You can see these beautiful metal feeders here: Hanging Fruit Feeders

Danger!
Did you know that bird will band together to protect each other and their young from predators? It's true! Jays and Crows can be herd in the forest calling out alarms for all of the birds in the area when a predator is around. Also, when a squirrel or snake or other predator is after a nest of eggs or young not only will the parents be there flapping wildly and trying to peck at the offender but other species of birds will come to their aid too. In this way, they work together to protect each other and their offspring. Just like a community would look after each other's children. Neat, huh?

Acorns!
Living in Northern Wisconsin, I can already feel the change in the air...fall is just around the corner. With that in mind, I thought I would mention that it is about time to start saving some acorns for your feathered friends to enjoy this winter. Nut-eating birds, such as chickadees, nuthatches, woodpeckers and jays will love you for this tasty treat in their birdfeeder this winter. Save a small bag and add some each time you fill up your feeder to give them a change in their diet.

It Begins...
I have finally decided it is time to start a blog for our store. It has been something I have considered for quite some time but have not done as I have never blogged before. Eventually, you have to just jump in and do it, I guess. So this is my first post with many more to come with information on our new lines of products that we are starting and hopefully some information that you will find useful thrown in every now and then.
